Weird Weapons and Winning Tactics: The Bruen MK9:

So, I did a write up on all the little issues with unlocking the new LMG earlier today. I did manage to unlock it and grind out gold camo on it in the past day and a half. To be open I really like this weapon. It's not a meta changing armament, but it definitely fills a hole in the gun pool that has needed filling for some time. I thought it was time to take a look at what it brings to the table. So, I am going to do a write-up and cover the weapon's basic stats.

Just a note this is all hand-tested and I use the Xbox's built-in game DVR to get my numbers. So, there is going to be a margin of error in some of my stats. For example, the fire rate could be off by 20 RPM or the ADS speed could be off by a few frames for example. This is more of a ballpark discussion so you'll know if the Bruen MK9 is worth 3 and a half hours or 1200 COD points. So please bear with me if there are a few mistakes in the stats. (It is!)

The gun:

The Bruen MK9 is a 4 shot kill at all ranges. It can 3 shot with all upper torso shots or 1 headshot out to about 35. The fire rate I measured is 710 to 720 RPM. Handling is nice, but it's still an LMG. We have an ADS time of .417 seconds by default, Sprint out is about .334 seconds. We have the standard LMG hipfire spread and a base movement speed of about 91% and our ADS strafe speed is 40%. So, a little better than some SMGs, but just marginally.

By default, we have a 100 round magazine with a typical 5.6 second reload. Recoil is moderate but quite predictable and controllable with some practice. The weapon will kick up left very similar to the Ram7. One other thing to note is that the Bruen MK9 does seem to have lower wall penetration that it's peers. It will normally take an extra bullet or two to wall bang someone as compared to the PKM or M91. This might be from slightly lower base damage or just coding since the weapon uses 556 ammo.

Overall, you get a marginally better handling LMG that of some range and penetration compared to some of its peers. The M91 and PKM hang onto their 3 shot upper chest multiplier for a few more meters. The PKM also has a higher fire rate and the M91 is slightly more accurate. However, the Bruen MK9 really starts to come to the party when you look at some of the attachments that it offers compared to the other LMGs on offer.

The Build:

So, I spent 7 and a half hours unlocking and leveling up this gun. After all that time this was the class that I came to be what best suits my playstyle. It also makes good use of the unique qualities that the Bruen MK9 brings to the table.

Primary Weapon: Bruen MK9

Attachments: Skeleton Stock, FMJ, Grandulated Grip tape, 60 Round Magazine, 18 Para Barrel

Secondary Weapon: Pistol of Choice

Attachment: Attachments of choice

Perk 1: Cold Blooded

Perk 2: Restock

Perk 3: Spotter

Tactical: Stim Shot

Lethal: C4

Now some of you will probably recognize the attachments that I have here. After 7 hours I did come to this kit on my own, but if you look at the blueprint in the shop all we've done here is swap out the reflex sight for FMJ. So, unlike some blueprint, the one in the shop really is optimally set up for the Bruen MK9 and worth considering if you want to skip the grind. The Para barrel, Skeleton stock and 60 round mag speed up our handling considerably. We now have a 94% move speed and 57% ADS strafe. Likewise, we have a .3 second ADS and sprint out time on the weapon with these attachments.

The trade-off for these attachments is our 3 shot kill range is now 31 meters, we have more recoil and our magazine was cut from 100 down to 60. However, the 60 round magazine speeds up our reload to a little over 2 seconds. The Granulated tape grip helps to recover the lost recoil control at the cost of a little more idle sway. Likewise, FMJ gives us back penetration for challenging opponents behind cover or campers through walls. It also helps to shred most kill streaks in a single magazine as well. This pairs nicely with cold-blooded and spotter to see enemy equipment and streaks and provide protection from them.

For our equipment, C4 can solve a variety of problems and dispatch enemy equipment. Likewise, this is a more aggressive LMG kit. So, stim shots are nice to keep our health topped up in the thick of it. The reload is quick for an LMG but slow enough to get you killed. So, having a pistol to fall back on is a good idea. You'll start with 3 mags or 180 rounds, but 556 ammo is common as dirt in this game. So, supply really isn't a problem.

This setup is a well-rounded kit best suited for a midrange patroling style. You can be more aggressive, but you will still get outmatched by shotguns and SMGs up close. So, it's best to preaim around corners with the skeleton stock when entering CQB areas. Better yet if you think someone is camping you have 60 rounds on tap and FMJ. Just shoot them through the wall and don't give them a chance to shoot back. Overall, it's a very well rounded kit that holds it's own at most of the ranges common in the multiplayer maps in this game.

If you want you can employ the Bruen MK9 in a more traditional defensive LMG role. Grab the big ammo attachment, a heavy barrel, and thermal sight. Then get yourself a nice head glitch to camp on. But, overall the PKM still fills that role better. The Bruen MK9 is a welcome addition to the meta and fills a role that has been absent from the LMG pool since the launch of this game. So, definitely check this gun out. I think you enjoy your time with it.

Xbonx: The reasonable way to address a poorly named console!

Okay so hear me out. When microsoft first got into the console game, they came up with a name that would eventually come to be recognized as a household name all around the world, the "Xbox". Since then, it seems like they have had no idea what to do about the names.

The next generation the decided to go against the norm and make up a new name, the "Xbox 360". Again, a name that everyone knew and was widely recognized. Since there was no need to say such a long name, many started referencing it as the "360". Short, simple and to the point. And for years people took a shot at what the next generation would bring cough xbox 720 cough.

AND THEN WE GOT... The "Xbox One". They can give whatever story about where the name came from but it still didnt really make sense since it was, well, the third xbox. It's fine, they can do what they want but in return, we can too! So the shorthand version came into existence, the "Xbone"! For most purposes, the only way I have ever referenced the console since before it was even released personally. It was a natural progression that was widely adopted.

And now we come to the next generation. If they kept doing what they were doing from the beginning this would be the "Xbox 1080"! A solid name, although ironically able to output 8k. Or if they followed through on their last naming convention, we would have the "Xbox Two". It would have been a little confusing at first but it would have made sense too. But no. Instead we now have the "Xbox One Series X". Its fine, they can do them but it's such a long name.

So here is what I propose, we shorten the name again to make it roll off the tounge. I propose the "X[box] ONE [series] X" or otherwise known as the "XBONX"! It rolls off the tounge nicely, is short to say and differentiates it from the other consoles in the series in name that people know what you are talking about. I think it's perfect and will be addressing it as such from here on out personally!

TLDR; Every xbox has had a shortened name after the original, it goes "Xbox", "360" then "Xbone". I propose the new shortened name for the xbox one series x of "Xbonx" to more easily differentiate this newest console!

Passed AWS CSA-001

Last night I took this test and passed. Got a 740/720. My score is definitely lower than I thought it would be to be honest but it's a pass. Materials used:

Stephane Maarek Course

Tutorial Dojo/ Jon Bonso exams - 90%, 85%, 70%, 60%, 60%, 67%

I work as a Security Analyst at a fast growing MSSP. Definitely need to focus on a lot of things. I received a hell of a lot of multi-tiered architecture questions with multiple things stuffed in to one answer. I also probably should have given myself a break. I took this test immediately after work a week after my CompTIA CySA+ exam which I had studied at the same time for both of them so I think some fatigue can explain my score too. For the past month I'd study at least 3 hours a day, 7 days a week, whether it was after work, my lunch break, while putting kids to sleep etc. So I'm going to take a one week break, spend time with the fam, play some Xbox, then back to the grind for the sysops admin exam and I'll throw in some studying with python on the side.

u/Stephanemaarek and u/Jon-Bonso 100% have my money for this next course and exam, and if they come out with AWS Security Specialty, that money belongs to them too!

The Razer Ripsaw HD is a great buy! But read this before you get it!

Hey guy's I have recently picked up my Razer Ripsaw. Extremely happy with the quality I am getting and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend that somebody buys one of these!

I have seen some bad publicity from people online, stating that the capture card can only record well in 720 FPS, This is simply not true as I have been able to record some AMAZING Gameplay footage since I started playing around with the settings. The only thing that the card needs is some online instructionals that show how to set everything up and with optimal settings to make the gameplay run smooth.

The instructions tell you the very basic plug and play set up that you need to do and it tells you how to download the razer cortex/ synapse apps. However there is quite a few things in Streamlabs OBS that need to be done to optimize the recording.

It would be really cool if you guys included some sort of extra paperwork in the book, that shows some basic video settings for people with this capture card to use. I feel like any bad reviews must be coming from people who have not been able to work out the best settings.

For example:

When you add the source into Streamlabs OBS the default setting for the Video Format is 'Any'

For me this setting as well as the 'YUY2' Setting, Can cause my recording to glitch and stutter.

If you have the ripsaw, please make sure your video format is set to 'MJPEG' this fixed all of these lag issues for me.

The second thing I would like to note is that by streamlabs OBS Default settings, the audio will have a slight delay for some people, it seems this can be a common issue for users, searching and searching for hours online to find no useful information.

But I have managed my own solution which is quite simple, running the Ripsaw through OBS on 2 seperate channels seems to fix it for me. 1 channel set up for video with no audio capture, A second channel set up to capture the Audio input from the razer ripsaw MIC jack.

This setup will be different for everyone and I am more than happy to expand further upon this, feel free to ask any questions in the interim while Razer can help build us a more in depth instruction guide.

There is also work-arounds to capture gameplay audio even with a wireless headset, which I will demonstrate for you in this video. I know it works on Ps4 and could potentially be a way to set up something similar on XBOX too if you guys get the same problem as us PS4 users.

And happy streaming lads :)

Razer Ripsaw Freezing?

So I've had the original version of the Ripsaw for Three years now and all of a sudden I can't go more than 20 min without it freezing in OBS. I have tried multiple things from changing the obs settings to changing the USB slots on my computer. I've even swapped HDMI cables.

However, if I change the resolution to 720 on my Xbox and the card itself it won't freeze. I'm Just curious if the card is dead or if there's a fix I'm missing.

Any help is appreciated Thanks!

Rocksmith 1 and 2014, White screen and crash to desktop

Because I haven't seen this posted before (the fix) I'm sharing

I have a T540p notebook with a Egpu that i've been using for over a year for portable gaming and VR

I7-4810MQ

GTX970 using the express card slot via a EXP Beast dock

16gb Ram

1TB ssd

And the lenovo super dock.

Fully updated windows 10 1909

PSVR with Driver4vr and 2 PSmove controllers, and a few PS3 EYE's and a xbox v2 Kinect

Logitech G930 headphones

USB (not unify) dongle for the G602 mouse

USB unify dongle for the keyboard i'm using

Issue:
Running Rocksmith loads white screen then crashes to desktop.

Output log shows it tries to scan resolutions then throws a resolution at 720 with lots of refresh rates

Drivers are all up to date, other games play fine.

IT WAS THE PSMOVE CONTROLLERS plugged in to the notebook to charge!

Removed them and it runs fine.

That is all, I spent 4 hours last night trying to figure out what was different (files, os, and stuff)

Hope this helps someone

Clip capture problem

I have an Xbox One X and am having clips cut short when I choose to "record what happened".

Scenario: I have preselected 720p clips to record the last 45 seconds after initiating the recording to my games internal hard drive that has 50% space remaining. Actual clips come out to be 5 to 20 seconds long. Maybe one out of ten actually exceed the aforementioned 20 seconds.

I have researched and found this problem to be fixed when switching from 1080 to 720 and after a hard reset. Neither of these solutions have fixed my issue and it happens across multiple games.

Any help would be appreciated.

[Question] Audio through the capture card is coming in WAY to high

I reinstalled SLOBS a few days ago. I had recorded some PC gameplay with no issues. Today I went to record some XBOX gameplay through a Razer Ripsaw capture card. My audio is instantly clipping. Doing something as simple as navigating through the menu causes clipping. I had to turn my audio slide down to -24DB to stop the clipping. What's weird - even though it's not peaking into the red now the audio is still getting distorted ever so slightly. I'm stumped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

C9 vs. B9 vs. Sony x900f

So a few years ago I bought a x900e for my living room that I loved, picture was great and I thought so much of it that I bought a smaller one for my bedroom. I normally buy TVs and try to not replace them for many many years at a time if possible.

Unfortunately about a year ago, the tv got some liquid damage from an unknown source and it fried the panel. I’ve been living with a cheap little 49” LG Black Friday special for a year now and it’s killing me.

I’m going back and forth over whether I get the x900f for $999, the B9 from Costco for $1899 (with a $100 Costco gift card and 4 year warranty) or the C9 from Costco (same gift card and warranty).

The main uses are streaming content from amazon, YTTV, Hulu, and Netflix, and very rarely playing a Xbox one X on it. I watch 4K whenever I can, but seeing as though most of what we watch is tv streamed in 720, or 1080 if you’re lucky, up-converting is important to me.

I know this is going to be a biased place to ask, considering it’s an OLED forum, but is the B9 really worth 2x the price of the Sony, and is the C9 worth $250 more? The extra $1150 for the C9 over the x900f won’t kill me, but it’s $1150 that could go towards a quality sound upgrade as well.

Steam Link starts, screen goes blank, cursor sits at top left, and then goes back to main screen

So I'm losing my mind trying to fix this and everything used to work fine.

Setup: Steam Link connected to TV (wired connection) to a host PC on same network, GPU RTX 2060

I select my PC from the Steam Link menu, it appears to load (even showing me the "Tip" overlay), the mouse is showing at the top left corner of the screen, and then a few seconds later it just goes right back to "Connecting to network" and then back to home screen. On the host PC I can see Big Picture launch and then close as well. No error.

What I've tried with no improvement:

Beta builds for both Steam and Steam Link, then reverting to public on both.

Disabling GPU acceleration

Unpairing the Steam Link

Disabling Geforce experience
