I'm looking for some help fixing an issue I'm having with my Xbox One X (Scorpio Edition). I've looked all over and haven't found any solution to my issue. I'll explain the issue and what I've tried to do, and hopefully one of you knows how to help me fix it!
I recently moved, and in my old apartment I had a 4K HDR TV. It worked pretty flawlessly with my One X once I got the settings right. In my new apartment, I have a standard 1080p TV. My One X wasn't displaying properly on the TV, so I reset the xbox to default settings and tried to change it around to get it working, and nothing fixed it. It would flicker in and out, static would come through the speakers at times, and when it did display, if I looked closely there were areas of the screen that had a sort of "grainy" effect. I booted the console into low res mode (640x480) and everything worked fine! No flickering, nothing wrong. From there I changed the settings to 1080p and it seemed to be working again! Until i turned the Xbox off and back on again, when the problems came back. I had been planning on purchasing a 4K TV anyway, so I decided to pick one up from the store and see if the problem continued.
The problems on 720/1080p persisted on the new TV, but not as bad. I was hopeful 4K might do the trick.
After enabling HDR on the TV (Samsung 6-series 55"), I verified in the 4K TV details section of the Xbox and every check box was green besides Dolby Vision. I went to change the display resolution to 4K UHD on my xbox, and upon doing so the samsung TV loaded for a bit and then said "no signal". After 20 seconds, the Xbox returned to 1080p and came up with a message saying "There might be an issue displaying 4K on this TV. Click Help for more information." I followed every single step on the help pafge, including resetting the Xbox to factory settings, to no success. I am worried my Xbox is broken, and it is out of warranty so I would prefer not to spend $300 repairing it.
My last hope is that someone here has experienced a similar issue and has found a solution.
