3rd time the charm. Passed Network+ today!

First off, thank you to the community for helping with the study materials and guidance.

This is my first CompTIA certification. Decided to skip A+ and go for the Network+.

Wanted to give up after my 2nd attempt and was so discouraged. But as they say, 3rd time is the charm. Passed with a 745, but just glad I was able to get passed 720.

Background: I have a bachelor degree in Computer Science. Worked in software translation, Internationalization/Localization for 19 years. A very small niche area in the software industry. Loss my job and moved to Texas around the Dallas area, end of last year. Decided to change my career path and go into IT. Only IT support experience I have is help troubleshoot family and relative PCs for at least 10 years or so.

Study material: Mike Meyers All-In-One CompTIA Network+ book. So intimidating 800 page book. The material was not too bad, but because it so long. 800 pages, my goodness! Well, only got through about half the book in 6 month and just skimmed through the rest. Was only spending about an hour per day on weekdays only. Used his online practice test and thought it was sufficient to pass the exam. Boy, was I totally Wrong, of course! Went ahead and try my 1st attempt about 5 weeks ago. Got a 566 score, major failure. There goes $300. Totally underestimated the exam. Did not have a clue what this exam was like. So discourage.

Came across Reddit community and found the right study material and resources. Got Udemy Jason Dion online course and practice exams. So I took his practice exams, scoring 54% at first, then 62% - 66% for the rest. As people mentioned here, they are the closest to the real exam. After some study, retaking Dion's practice test, I was getting around 90s to upper 90s. Two weeks later, took my 2nd attempt. Got a 679 failing score. There goes another $300. Was more discouraged and wanted to give up. I don't have a good study habit. Spending about an hour or 2 hours per day on weekdays only. Also, most of the time just wanted to play Resident Evil 2 Remake on my Xbox One. By the way, I got S+ ranked on all 8 scenarios. Unfortunately, I played the game more than I study. Ugh!

Finally decided to go through Dion's online 13-hour course. Had to wait 2 weeks after my 2nd attempt failure, as that is CompTIA policy. Today took the test, my 3rd attempt and passed. So relief!

I would like to get Security+ or CCNA next, but just want to find a job at the moment and provide for the family.

So again, thank you for this community's help and guidance.

The best to everyone!
