Y3 Off-Season: PS4/XBox/PC All Platforms Population Counts during CE 19-22JUL19

Off-Season PS4/XBox/PC Warrior Challenge Event (CE) 19-22JUL19

The following are the PS4, XBox, and PC numbers of active players during these timeframes ("at least this many played", could be more). By doing the minimum requirement to gather the lowest possible ranking, one can see a snapshot of active players for that timeframe. All totals are in "At least this many played" numbers for only the specified timeframes. More players would definitely have played, but not less.

Trends/Observations:

  1. On PS4, there was a very minor change between these numbers and the last comparable CE (12-15JUL19). No notable change to speak of, in any of the numbers (very slight increase in totals, faction populations had minor changes in percentages).

  2. XBOX DATA FOR THE FIRST TIME. Two points of interest with these numbers.

    • The first is the Community Goals used for last Mid-Season's Event factored out to PS4 48%, Xbox 35%, and PC 17%. Theoretically, we could assume ballpark figures for Xbox based off of the other numbers collected. This week, Xbox had a 33% take, which is very close to that projected goal of 35%. It held up with the actual raw data collected.
    • The second point is how closely Xbox Faction population percentages matches up with both PS4 and PC. I always suspected they were close, but this confirms those suspicions. This is the first real detailed look at the whole population of an extended timeframe since... the Devs put out that information at the start of S5, more than one year ago.
  3. On PC, these numbers were collected with two hours left in the event. The numbers for PC are better than last week's, however, due to time constraints those weren't done at the optimal time to do these events (last day being the best day) like this one was. It's not easy to work around these schedules, but any data collected is good as these are always in an "At Least this Many" (there will be more, but not less) totals and only just close approximations to full playerbase counts. Additionally, there were very minor changes in population percentages, but nothing noteworthy.

  4. The Viking Faction won the Challenge Event for most matches completed on all three platforms Xbox, PC ,and PS4. Overall, Vikings had 35.9%, Knights 32.8%, and Samurai 31.3%. During this timespan, the Vikings also held territories between 38-44. While they handily won these events, the numbers are interesting with regard to the FW. There's a few variables at play and further info is needed, but it is curious.

  5. This is the first real detailed look at the whole population over an extended timeframe since... the Devs put out that information in S5, more than one year ago. These actual numbers line up very well to the Devs projected Community Goals used for last Mid-Season's Event of PS4 48%, Xbox 35%, and PC 17%.

  6. The next upcoming CE is a 7 day Challenge Event starting 25JUL19. First of all, that's very odd, there hasn't been a week long challenge during the off-season since... well, I can't even remember when one happened. Does it mean something? Maybe, but probably not. Unfortunately, I am unsure of the type of CE it is (except that it is an Executioner Event) and if it's worth doing. I will have to wait until after this next WD.

Note: This CE was a Warrior Challenge, which is matches completed of any mode. It is impossible to receive a score of zero. Scores of 1+ can only be earned by actually completing matches. This one for all modes is rare for these shorter CEs, but it's one of the best types of CEs to use to see whole population data of active players during these timespans.

Previous Challenge Events tracked: Compiled CE Population Reports: Year 3

Using Community/Challenge Events (CE) to get a snapshot of player numbers was common over the years ever since they removed the player counter. I've kept track for my own interest. If anyone wants to track this, they easily can. For those interested, Here is an overly explained and overly complicated process I used to test issues and to find the optimal way to produce results, but in reality this is very simple for anyone to do.

It is far from metrics of actual total playerbase, actual downloads, or players leaving/players coming back. With Ubisoft not releasing that info, this is the next (only) best thing. This sub used to do this in 2017 and mid 2018, it's nothing new.

Disclaimer: This is a post about numbers of active PS4/XBox/PC players during the Challenge Event lasting 19-22JUL19. This is merely a reference for use. This is NOT indicative of how many downloads/purchases of the game has occurred or the overall numbers of active players in this month. Nor is it indicative of how active they were, just that they played at least one match during this timespan.

Inactive accounts do not get rankings, they have to actively participate (complete a match) during these events. Logging in, Customize Menus, Training Arena, and Apprentice/Warrior Trials do not grant rankings. Again, only completing a match during these timeframes will count and only active accounts will receive rankings.
