This is actually a build I did 3 years ago, before my gf introduced me to reddit :)
Being on a budget, I decided to buy a cheap (but decent) used pc. From there, I would drop in upgrades as needed.
Part 1. The Prebuilt PC.
Bought a Dell T1500 via Houston's Craigslist for $150.
Specs:
- 320GB HDD
- Nvidia NVS 300 (256mb)
- Core i5 760 @ 2.8Ghz
- 4GB RAM
Part 2. The GPU upgrade.
Since I couldn't play the new Mortal Kombat X on the shiddy NVS 300, I went to best buy to find an upgrade. Got myself a PNY GTX 950 2GB OC Edition for $100.
Side Note: In hindsight, I should have stocked up on 980's. The mining craze hit only 3 months later, and I could have made THOUSANDS of $$$ T-T
Total Cost: $250
I eventually upgraded the HDD to a 1TB, then later again to 3TB, and then to my now current 10TB.
I also upgraded the RAM to a respectable 12GB last month.
But for $250, I had my first Gaming PC. It still plays every game from 2019 - 1971, and is on par, if not better, in graphical output than the PS4/XBox 720.
Speaking of PShit4, has anyone noticed how it lacks backwards compatibility, but has a streaming service that "allows" users to buy PS3/PS2/PS1 games & play them.
Not trying to be that guy, but you can't tell me that ain't some sheep sheering bullshit.
Like, even if I own a physical copy of Vice City, I still gotta buy it from the PStore AND wait for my shiddy internet to download it?
No thanks, homie. I'm good on that!
