Xbox one s 1440p 120hz update

This update came out in May I think. I have a Xbox s with a 4k tv. When I go to my display settings, resolution, it doesn't give me the option for 1440p. There's, 720 1080 and 4kuhd. Also, it doesn't give me the 60hz or 120hz option. I was wondering if anyone can walk me through what I need to do to get these options to work. Thank you

Curved in 2018? Help me pick a TV

So my options are:
SAMSUNG TV NU8040 (2018) 55 Inch 760€
SAMSUNG TV NU8500 (2018) 55 Inch 720€
SAMSUNG TV Q6FN (2018) 49 inch 750€

The curved NU8000 is cheaper than the flat one, that's why I am considering it. The Q6FN is a 49' so it has a 60hz panel but I don't own an Xbox or plan to use it as an PC monitor. Are there any better TVs in this price range available?

Edit: Im in EU, so no cheap TCL or Vizios sadly :( Thanks!

My new tv which is a RCA 4K displays a really low quality image for games

So I got a new 4K tv and after connecting it and putting final fantasy Xv and red dead 2 it looks really washed out and bad quality. I changed the setting on my Xbox from 720 to 1080 but that didn’t do anything. I’m not sure why this is happening but it’s really frustrating buying a new tv and realizing the quality looks bad, so if anyone could help that would be great.

Question about audio

Hey guys! I’m gonna be getting a Switch within the next few hours, and I had a question that’s been dwelling. I have an old Vizio 32 inch TV that is barely functioning, it’s 720 and has weird resolution issues to where my Xbox doesn’t fit the screen properly, and if I use a HDMI to my computer I have to fix the overscan and whatnot.

The thing is, I also have a 60fps 1080p monitor, but it doesn’t have speakers. Is there any way the Switch can still use its own speakers while plugged into a monitor? I’d much rather use the nice crisp monitor if possible, but audio is obviously a necessity.

For this post I will mention how Bleach managed to survive after it ended back in 18th of August, the year of 2016, how it was and is still being promoted and/or supported:

2016:

• a light novel was published by the name of "We Do Knot Always Love You". The novel was received well and was a best seller for weeks.

2017:

• a light novel called "Can't Fear Your Own World" was published. Also a number 1 best seller in books. The novel was so material-heavy that a sequel was announced.

• Bleach Brave Souls managed to do something huge for its 2nd anniversary, that was by introducing the first original design of Ichigo. But the thing that blew everyone's minds was the announcement of movies & manga characters, this step is still deemed to this day as the biggest step KLab took.

• Bleach paradise line, a mobile game was released

• Bleach Bluray DVDs were announced, so far we have 4 blurays

2018

• it was announced that the novel series "Can't Fear Your Own World" was so huge that it weighed more than 5 books, so far we know it's a trilogy, but it could be more than that.

• a few sketches were released to promote this preorder book. The most notable ones were a drawing of Ichigo wearing a shirt with the words "and a little sequel" written on it, as well as a sketch of preteen Kazui and preteen Ichika in school uniforms. my guess is that we will see a One shot about them or it won't be just a OS but part of sometimes bigger, just like Naruto, remember the "Naruto project"? When kishimoto drew a One shot for the kids as well as other stuff

• Burn The Witch is a One shot by Kubo that he drew for Shonen Jump's 50 anniversary, it is implied to be set in the Bleach universe.

• Ichigo, Rukia, & Aizen were announced to be playable characters in JUMP FORCE, a console game for PS4, Xbox, PC. Also, the Royal Palace will be a stage.

• KLab did a collab with another mobile game company, the game is coming out this year. The characters are not chibified this time, you can look it up in YT, it looks so cool would be cooler if it was for PS4

• Nendroid Ichigo was announced

• Bleach Box Set 3 was announced and released last month

• Funko pops of Grimmjow, Renji, & a special Bankai Renji were announced for 2019

• HYPLAND is doing a collaboration with Bleach, they're releasing clothes, shoes...etc. It's happening this Saturday

• it was announced that not only will Shuhei use his Bankai in CFYOW, but Shinji's Bankai was also revealed, it is called "Sakashima Yokoshima Fusagari"

• The narration heavily implies that Kubo was going to reveal Shinji's Bankai against Gerard. This is because his Bankai is said to "do miracles"

• CFYOW will be added as a main story in BBS, the main villains are confirmed to be adapted as well as both Shinji and Hisagi. KLAb is promoting this with "Get Ready For The Future, 2019", they also announced that something "greater than resurrection" will come soon, as well as espada remakes

• SJ released an article to celebrate volume 74 after asking fans why they love BLEACH, it was a really heartwarming read

• BLEACH is getting a booth in JUMP FESTA to celebrate studio pierrot's 40th anniversary. It has been 6 years since Pierrot tweeted anything Bleach related

So here you go, BLEACH is still being promoted & appreciated, whether it's dead or alive, whether it's loved or hated, this series ended 2 years ago and is still being talked about everyday, an announcement comes out every few months, merchandise is suddenly being made after being denied of even figurines, just ENJOY, whether this promotion is leading for something bigger, like a manga sequel or spin off, more novels or sequel to the live action film, an OVA or anime adaption of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, even if it's just done to show respect to one of the greatest shonen jump titles, it doesn't matter, BLEACH has earned its place as both a classic & a highly respectable series !!!

[PA] Gaming headset for Xbox One.

$350 flexible budget.

Primary purpose would be gaming. Secondary on the wish list would be the option of using with my phone (Pixel 1) for calls & music. With the unfortunate trend of smartphones, a 3.5mm may not be available on my next phone upgrade around mid-2019.

Tertiary consideration: PC connectivity for music & voice capability.

I enjoy EDM as well as a variety of other music genres. Quality bass would be appreciated.

Noise isolation has a mid-level priority. (maybe open back makes more sense?)

I owned and enjoyed Triton AX 720s many years ago for use with an Xbox 360.

I am unsure whether to head down the surround or stereo path. I play FPS predominantly. Maybe surround is my answer?

I am uneducated when it comes to sources/amps, and if you couldn't already tell, headphones in general.

I've been spending time researching when possible. Any guidance will be much appreciated. Let me know if I can clarify or expand on anything.

Question: Anthem MRX720 & Xbox One X for Atmos

Hello,

I have an Anthem MRX 720 as my AVR in my system. I just bought an Xbox to play games and watch Blu-rays. I'm having trouble getting Atmos to work using the Xbox's blu-ray player.

When in the Xbox's menu I can see "DOLBY ATMOS" displayed on my AVR. I popped in Roger Waters The Wall -- an Atmos-enabled Blu-Ray -- and my AVR displayed DOLBY TRUEHD while playing the movie.

I know Microsoft has been having issues with their Blu-Ray player and some AVRs. Does anyone have the same combination of components and gotten it to work?

In Need of a Modest Rig

So, I usually leave my gaming to my Xbox One X. Love playing Fallout, Skyrim, Oblivion, Overwatch... I've recently started to get into PC gaming, though. Currently have a ~$800 laptop, a Lenovo Yoga 720 that has a 256 GB SSD, 8 GBs of RAM, i5 6th gen and a Nvidia 940MX (could be wrong on that). It works just fine, but Overwatch is laggy on medium settings and it can't handle Oblivoin/Fallout 3/NV with a good ENB. Skyrim won't even run. I believe its due to the fact that my Nvidia graphics card has only 2gb of dedicated VRAM.

I've been looking at getting a desktop, though. I do graphic design work and a lot of word processing, so I was looking at an iMac, but I've been thinking I might as well get a PC that I could also game on. I'm not too fond of building my own as I understand face-value stuff, but I don't know the first thing about putting a PC together.

Anyway, I'm looking for a rig ~ $850 (preferably on the lower end), not including monitor or anything, just the rig. Bonus if the parts are sold at Best Buy, so I can get my employee discount. I'm also super close to a Microcenter. Hoping for something that can run Bethesda games (I'm very set in my ways) and some Overwatch, but also can do well in graphic design and managing very large image and video files. Nothing complex as I want something easy to set up lol.

Do Game captures affect performance?

Hi there, new to the Xbox community.

The “record that” feature is cool but it got me wondering, does leaving it enabled cause any dip in performance of the console?

Likewise, is there any hit in performance If i change the recording resolution from 720 to 1080? Is there any benefit to just leaving it at 720p, which is the default, besides length of recording? I’ve been searching around but I’ve found conflicting information. Thanks

What's the best way of displaying 720p nowadays?

I'm in a very reminiscent mood nowadays and I want to bring some life back to my good old PlayStation 3. As some of you may know, the majority of games run at 1280×720. Some lower, some higher, but it's usually 720p.

My current monitor is a Samsung CF591. It's a 1080p 27" monitor, whose size is already exaggerated enough for 1080p, let alone for 720p. AFAIK, 720p is not a half-resolution of 1080p, so if scaling artifacts weren't bad enough the image will be even more ass.

The first solution I thought of was buying a cheap native 720p monitor, as it can display 720p without additional scaling and it would be okay. Thing is, I can't find one. I literally couldn't find a single native 1280×720 display, with all of them being either 1360×768 or 1366×768. And I've tried, but 720p still looks like ass on a native 768p display (tried an old LG W1942 IIRC).

Then I tried my old Sony FW-900 16:9 CRT. Being a CRT, there's no scaling artifacts and I finally could see "native 720p" and boy, it is beautiful. But 720p at 60Hz on a CRT is pretty much unbearable for me. So much flickering it makes me want to play at my 1080p monitor with scaling artifacts.

I don't know what to do anymore at this point. Any suggestions? Unfortunately unlike the Xbox 360 the PS3 doesn't seen to have a hardware scaler and I can't force the output to 1080p. It's either 720p or 480p. 1080i works but only sometimes.

Any help or insights will be appreciated, and I'm sorry if this is not the adequate subreddit for such a question.

Looking for some like minded and fun individuals to game with long term. Have a group of 2-3 regulars and maybe some more come Christmas time. We are all pretty fluent in sarcasm and banter in general with a lot of dark humor thrown in as well. So, a thick skin my be good to have if you wish to join us in our adventures. Also, we can be extremely corny with dad jokes and puns in general, but its pun for the whole family ;). Also, we all came from Xbox to PC in the last few weeks with one of us being a former PC player as well.

Games we all have:

Destiny 2 - Although none of us have bought Forsaken and leveled toons on PC, I'm sure if we had a group to play with we would definitely consider.

The Forest- We have only played a couple of hours, but we are loving it so far and are down to start a new game if you would like.

Battlefield 4 and V- Currently downloading V and will probably be playing tonight.

Origins Premium- Most of us have this so if there's anything on there you would like to play I'm sure we would be down as well.

Anthem- We are all pretty much looking forward to this game when it launches, pending its not a disaster lol.

Other Games but not all of us have:

Smite- I play this pretty casually from time to time.

Black Ops 4- I think 2 of us have this right now, me being one of them. I'm not great by any means, especially since I'm fairly new to kb + m, but I do really enjoy the game and all the modes. I love zombies easter eggs as well if you're into that.

Elder Scrolls Online- Currently I'm the only one that has this game. I used to play on console and was CP 720 when I quit. I currently am only level 3, so if you want level a toon I'm down.

Overwatch- I think only one of us has this, but once again its something most of us would consider buying if there was enough of us playing.

Rainbow 6- One person has this and the rest of us are probably picking this up soon.

Scum- Couple people have this, but in all honesty its not played very much. Also, not really a game type I'm personally too interested in.

World War 3- We are eyeballing this game right now. It looks pretty fun, but I think we are just waiting to see if it goes on sale for Black Friday. We all love Battlefield and this is right down that alley.

I'm sure there is one or two I'm missing, but you get the general idea of what we are into I think. We all have jobs plus I'm in school full time so we don't usually get on until after 6 or 7 pm through the week. Weekends can be a toss up on time depending on family with them or school work/homework for me that week, but we will definitely be on. Age and gender don't really matter too much to us, but I would say we are NSFW and might be better off for 21+ individuals who don't get upset at jokes and jabs. I'm done with Microsoft. Xbox One X broken again..

I bought an Xbox One X from Gamestop brand new about 2 months ago. A month and half in, I loaded up and for some reason I was in 640x480 resolution. I tried everything to fix it. I hard reset, tried different tv's, different HDMI cords and also reset to default. Nothing was working. No matter what I did I couldn't upscale to 720,1080 or 4K. So inevitably, I had to send it in for a repair.

I received my Xbox 2 weeks later, excited to play the New black ops and Red Dead. Only problem was when I would play BO4, my game would freeze and then my XB would shut off on its own. Thinking it was just a one time thing, I ignored it and continued to play. But every couple of BO4 games it would do the same thing. Until yesterday I was playing, my Xbox shutoff on its own again and then low and behold, I was getting the same issue as before where it was booting in only 640x480 and I couldn't get it out. Now I have no choice but to ship it off AGAIN 2 weeks after I got it back.

I'm sure other people have had problems with this system as well. It's really frustrating that I have a $500 console with numerous games and I can't play it. If anyone has had the same issue with theirs please share and if you have a fix let me know. It might be time to say bye bye to MS and hello to Sony.

happy new Switch owner :D but need some help/advice

Hey guys, just bought the Switch a few days ago and I’m bloody excited about it! Just like to share some thoughts with you guys and have some questions to ask down below. My first time posting on this subreddit so I apologise if I’m not up to date with any Nintendo Switch news or info. I haven’t really been following or keeping up to date with Nintendo these past few years. This is going to be a long post so I apologise.

I’m a uni student and have grown up playing Nintendo handhelds like Gameboy Advance and DS (the highlights of my childhood gaming years haha). I skipped the Wii and 3DS generations as I transitioned over to PC gaming and PS4 during my teenage years (had so much fun on those platforms haha) but now I’m looking to get back into it with the Switch. Main reason why I skipped the Wii and 3DS because it felt too childish for me and the games on there didn’t really appeal me - I’ve been told countless times that gameplay over graphics, and I completely understand that notion but the games on those consoles had really a cartoony feel to them and felt really simple to me. I was looking for more of a real gaming console and a serious gaming experience not one that was catered to kids. Especially at the time there were so much better games on the PS4 and PC (that suited me more).

But now fast forward to the Switch, I’ve been told by some of my friends who owns the Switch (as well as other consoles) that the Switch no longer focuses on kid games or the like and does provide a real AAA gaming experience. This part of the reason why I sold my PS4 and games and used the money to buy a Switch and other Switch accessories! They told me I could play AAA games on the go, so basically imagine any PS4 games a bit scaled down with a bit lower performance BUT on the go! The trade of performance and graphics for portability sold me and I’m like sign me the fk up haha. Plus I could play exclusive Nintendo games! This is great.

So now I just have a few questions. Apologies I’m completely new to the Switch so I have like zero info on it as I just sold my PS4 and got a Switch to be my primary gaming console 2-3 days ago.

*Q1. *On my PS4 I could do local saves backup onto an external hard drive, how do I do that for my Switch? Doesn’t have to be hard drive can be to a storage medium like SD card. Also are there online cloud saves like the PS4? I don’t want to lose my save data if something happened to my Switch or if a game just corrupts on me. I’d like to keep the hours I put into a game haha.

Q2. How is the online experience for the Switch? One of the reasons I “switched” over to the Switch is because I was told the online experience is on par with the Xbox and PS4. How do I add my friends to my friend list? I see something called friend codes on my menu but that is too much of a hassle, is there a way to add friends via usernames? Also are there dedicated servers for games like on Xbox,PS4? I don’t want to be lagging or disconnecting when I’m playing Smash or other online games. Also can anyone recommend me an Ethernet adapter for the Switch? I can’t find an Ethernet port anywhere on it and I’m used to Ethernet with my PS4 (for best internet connection).

Q3. I can’t seem to find an internet browser app on the Switch? I can’t find it on the eShop as well. I’m in Australia if that makes a difference, maybe it’s only available in America or something for now? I’d like to browse the internet to look up game guides/walkthroughs or game info directly on the Switch instead of having to take out my phone to do it. This leads to my next question. Is there a YouTube, Crunchyroll or social media apps for the Switch like on my PS4? I presume there must be because it’s been like 2 years the Switch has been released now. I’d like to make my Switch my ultimate gaming/entertainment device so having those apps in one place would be great!

Q4. So my friends told me there will be third party AAA games support for the Switch (as I’m not really into all Nintendo exclusive games so this is good to hear). I apologise if this has been asked before or info about this has been posted before, but when are games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Neir Automata, GTA, RDR2, Spider-Man, Persona, Danganronpa, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed and etc. coming to the Switch? I’m looking through the eShop and I see games like Diablo3, Wolfenstein, Skyrim, etc. but I’ve already played those on my PS4 or PC many years ago (and I’m pretty sure they run it better than the Switch so I have no intentions of buying it again). Also wondering if there are any good AAA exclusives from third party developers? Like AAA games that are not from Nintendo and exclusive to the Switch, I should know about? If this question has been asked before I apologise, please just link me a list or guide instead.

Q5.Also is there anyway I can play old games like GBA or NES games on my Switch? I’ve heard that the 3DS could do this with something called “virtual console”. I presume the Switch has it since it’s obviously the successor to 3DS so it would have all its previous features but I can’t seem to find it on the eShop? Sorry for the noob question, I’ve tried searching on the eShop but can’t find the games on there that is apparently being offered on the 3DS (a 7 year old console). Also is there a way to filter results or searches on the eShop? Don’t mean to be harsh or anything but I find it really difficult to find games on the eShop. I’m used to the PS4 having search filters so it’s easy to explore and discover great games to play.

Q6.Lastly I understand the Switch is less powerful compared to real proper consoles like the PS4 or Xbox but how does it perform for AAA games? Can I expect around 720 @ 60fps or 1080p @ 30fps stable for most games? Perhaps it will lag and be glitchy during handheld mode but what about docked mode? I presume it should run 60fps stable right (since the Switch is a 2017 console)? I prefer accuracy in my games and don’t really like it if it lags too much or stutters frequently. Also I kinda hate how the Switch only has 32GB of internal storage... I feel that it’s insufficient and backwards thinking for 2017/18 standards... Xbox and PS4 have a minimum of 500GB. I would have been somewhat okay with this if the games on the Switch were compressed to a smaller size compared to PS4 but only found out how insufficient it is after downloading from the eShop NBA2K18 (big NBA fan go Rockets! Plus I sold my PS4 so this is my only console to play it) and after updating it found that I only had like 5gb of storage left. I couldn’t even buy MK8 to play afterwards :( Will go out to buy a 128Gb sd card sigh.

Completely new to the Switch here and just like to know some basic features and function that the Switch should have but I can’t seem to find it or how to make it work. Also before anyone asks the current Nintendo exclusive games I’m interested in are Mario Oddessy, MK8, Zelda, Smash, Fire Emblem 3H, Metroid 4 PH, XenoBlade, Octopath, Bayonetta 3. Pretty stoked for those games. I’ve looked and I’m not really into any indie titles on the Switch as I’ve played it on the PS4 or PC before (with better graphics and performance so I don’t intend to buy it again).

Kodi on Xbox loads with blank menus and is just a small screen in a corner.

Uh any idea what the heck is going on? I don’t want to uninstall just yet and lose all my addons. It was working perfect last night.

edit: managed to “fix” it by changing the resolution in xbox setting from 720 to 1080. I was able to change it back and restart Kodi without issues. This is really strange and I hope this weird bug gets sorted out.
