this post is in hope to resolve two issues. the first problem is my Mic, i can get an audio reading on my OBS but my voice doesnt register in voice chat, nobody can hear me. my mic privacy is on but still having issues. the second issue is with video quality. i have a 1080 monitor and looks great directly connected to my xbox one, but when streaming on my windows 10 xbox app, it looks 720 and junky. i tried setting my computer settings to high video quality with 60fps but still looks bad. PLEASE HELP, thanks

p.s. first try at attempting to set up for streaming and could use any advice, along with OBS advice/ help. thanksthanksthanks

Xbox One S only showing 1080 and 720 options.

I just picked up a TCL 4K TV the other day, and when trying to enable 4K on my Xbox One S, it only gives me the option for 1080 or 720 resolutions. I don’t even have an option to select 4K. I have HDMI 2.0 enabled on the TV input as well. Anyone else seeing this?

Do I need a receiver that supports ALLM?

I'm about to upgrade my receiver and buy an Xbox One X, and I see the XB1X got updated to support ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode, which automatically switches a tv to its Game Mode settings (and vice versa) when watching tv/movies vs gaming). I know that for ALLM to work, the tv has to support it and the settings just have to be adjusted on the XB1X. The only tv models that currently support it are the top-tier Samsungs. My question is this: If I buy a new receiver along with the XB1X, does the receiver need to support ALLM for it to work? I see the new Yamahas support it. Marantz models will soon support it after a firmware update. I asked Anthem if their AVRs supported it, and was told, "As far as I know we do not support ALLM however we do not have any video processing, the MRX 720 HDMI video is pass through only." I'm not sure how ALLM works on a technical level, but I'm assuming a receiver must need to support ALLM, as is the case with the tv. Am I correct? Or does it matter, as long as the signal is being passed through the receiver? I’ve asked Anthem and Microsoft tech support, and no one seems to know.

Recommended PC Specs + Monitor To Stream Xbox One Using Elgato Capture Card & OBS

Please see below answers to templated questions.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated (Currently very green when it comes to PC specifications having been a heavy MAC user for over 12 years).

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

I'm looking to obtain specifications for a PC and monitor that will smoothly stream Xbox One gameplay via an Elgato HD60S capture card, running OBS on a wired connection with around 12Mbps upload speed. The games that will be played are mainly FPS. I will also be using this machine to use all primary Adobe Suite applications alongside rendering videos at both 720 & 1080p. Ideally looking for a middle of the road specification that won't break the bank. Nothing top-end but nothing on the lower-scale either. Any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

What Is This Game?

If you dont already know, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a open world RPG set in the times of the Roman Empire. You take the place of Henry, an ordinary medieval townsman. Suddenly, your village is imvaded by enemies, viciously slaughtering everybody you know. Somehow, you escape. And decide to avenge your parents and aid their side in the civil war. This game has a variety of different weapons and attack styles. Giving you the chance to attack from close or far, go stealth or run in guns a blazing (or swords). I like this as it makes every fight different and exciting. The open world looks and feels beautiful, with multiple terrains ranging from open fields to dense forests, and amazing castles. This is something wich I love as it is relatable to me as I live in a place where vast farms and fields are everywhere and castles are fairly common. The story is also non-linear. There isn't always a specific way to complete a quest, and in a sort of telltale style, your choices in a quest will have consequences. This is also similar to the dynamic world feature. Where each action will influence everyone around you, for the good or bad, different people will treat you differently. So you could be kind and fight for people, help them, or threaten them and steal from them. This adds more freedom and allows your character to be excactly as you want him to be and makes you more attached. It also allows for multiple playthroughs where each one is different. The also game includes character development, allowing you to uprgrade skills and earn perks and equipment. Letting you choose your style in depth. One thing which I love about this game, is the historical accuarcy, I am somewhat of a history geek myself and the thought of this really makes me want this game. You can meet real historic characters, and play through an authentic medieval setting. Dosn't all that just sound amazing!

Why Do I Want This?

1. I would love this game because, as stated above, I love history and this game being advertised as historically accurate just excites me.
2. I am stuck for things to play, For Honor recently came on Games with Gold, that game is great, but is hard to play for a long time as it is very repetitive and difficult to learn. Forza Horizon 2 is also on there and I'm struggling to get into it. Besides them I only really play BF1, and Siege, but even that can get annoying, and breaks are usually needed. As it is quite serious multiplayer game. With BF1, I picked it up in the sale for a fiver , after enjoying it at a past friends house, however thats not really what I remebered, I still play it quite a lot, but I would love a break from multiplayer. Which leads on to the next point
3. I'd love a break from multiplayer. Most of my games are multiplayer focused and that can be quite serious and difficult, and I'm not very good at them. I just need something to have fun in and not have people messaging me 'Your bad' and getting kicked everytime I play. #Why Can't I Afford This
4. I can't afford this game as my 'gaming allowance' only has a fiver in it. Now, I'm guessing you dont know what that is, right? Well, i was an impulse buyer, before somebody suggested I do this, so basically, Whenever I have spare money, I put it in my gaming allowance. This prevents me from buying games I dont really want or need without thinking it through. Then regretting it. However, no matter how much I want a game, I refrain from using money from outside my allowance as I easily slip into habits and want to prevent this happening.
5. If you're wondering why I have so little money, it's because I have recently made 2 purchases, draining the allowance, one was, as stated previously, Battlefield 1 for 9 quid. I bought this as it is a game I have wanted since release, I saw this deal for the base game plus dlc and couldn't help myself. I also saw a post on r/xboxone which influenced my descision, in that post it stated in detail why this was the 'best game deal in the history of xbox one'. The rest of the money was the pre-order of FIFA 19, it took me a long time to save for this but it was worth it. If you've seen my recent posts you'll know how much I love sport, every kind. But football. I practically live football (although I cant play it very well) and my money on previous FIFAs wasnt wasted and I know this will be the same. I had (according to the xbox stats page) 15d 10h 44m (371h) on FIFA 18, 4d 0h 24m (96.5h) on FIFA 17 and 13d 11h 29m (323.5h) on FIFA 16. Mac Mini as HTPC for Plex ? Spec questions and also need an NAS?

I have zero experience with anything like DIY builds etc so I'm looking to buy an off the shelf mini to run as our first ever HTPC. The whole family uses Macbooks and crucially all our media files are on Mac hard drives, some icloud storage and and a bunch of mac-formatted external usb drives. So I'm thinking it's best to just buy a Mac mini, even though it's more expensive, as it'll be easier just to hang the existing drives out of it. Otherwise I will need to reformat and transfer everything to windows or Linux drives, right? ( <-first of many stupid questions)

Our usage is only ever really going to max out at 3 devices at once, and even that would be fairly rare. Sample max load might be simultaneously streaming dvd rips (mostly 1080 and 720) on:

- Xbox hooked to tv

- Macbook

- iphone or ipad outside the home

Now, our video files are a range of different file types from over the years so I'm guessing there might be a fair amount of transcoding. Don't think we have any files above 1080. Will I need HW transcoding if, say, all three are streaming films that need transcoding?

Would a single decent spec Mac Mini be able to support this kind of setup, and could it ALSO handle RAID responsibilities (I have never had a RAID system but it seems sensible). Or will I also need an NAS to handle that load and RAID duties? If so, will it be easier to use yet another mac setup as the NAS as well, or is it easy to run a windows or Linux NAS to support and backup Macs (I have never used Linux so introducing any non mac components will probably tax my non existent software knowledge beyond its limits. Are the advantages of windows and mac Linux NAS rigs (to someone like me) just the flexibility on setup and expansion, and price? Or is there more to it?

And finally, if I can get away with a single Mac Mini for this, what's the likely minimum spec to achieve it? I doubt our needs will evolve a great deal for a few years, so I don't need a huge amount of redundancy. But obviously don't want to spend my life getting yelled at by my wife for crappy home theatre performance.

So i am going to be streaming mainly Xbox One games. I have an Xbox One X. I have two choices with this. I can connect it to my PC via my capture card and run it through something like Stream Labs but only play it in 1080p or I can run through Lightstream and play in 4k HDR on my 60" TV.

What do you all suggest?

Plaid pattern on original Xbox games on Xbox One?

If I basically put my face to my monitor (and usually turn up the brightness) I can make out a faint pattern in the image. I noticed it first within the black area of the 4:3, but it's actually throughout the image. My first thought "it was monitor" so I tried the following:

1. Tried playing a PS2 game on PS4 which was in 4:3, no problem there.

2. Tried playing an Xbox original game on my 360 that was in 4:3, no problem there.

3. Tried playing the Xbox One on a different monitor, less pronounced maybe, but it's still there, then again that monitor can't go up to 4k, so I was stuck with only 720p and 1080p, which is harder to make out the graphical glitch anyway.

I also noticed that the pattern itself changes a bit depending on the resolution. On 720 and 1080 it looks like lines of sort. On 4k it's kinda plaid-ish, boxes maybe?

Anybody else have this problem? I noticed this problem in Morrowind and KoTOR 2.

Edit: Probably also worth noting that the Xbox One guide menu while these games are running doesn't suffer from this.

Edit: I also tried an Xbox 360 game that's "X Enhanced" (Oblivion) to see if I could see the pattern there, nope. For that matter, I also tried a few 4k Xbox One games too, couldn't see it there.

Suggested Features

• Upgrade Reorganization (Ship and Multi Tools) - Ability to reorganize upgrades without losing them. Since upgrades have a bonus affect on upgrades of the same category in close proximity it would be nice if you could arrangement without having to destroy them. Either that or the bonus effect works regardless of its proximity to other upgrades. I only mean swapping it from slot x to slot y. Not removing it and putting it back in your inventory.
• Selling Ships - Ability to sell extra ships.
• Upgrade Modules Selling - Ability to sell upgrade modules that have not yet be installed
• Planetary Map - A map of some sort when you touch down on a planet. My thoughts are just a blank globe void of any terrain, locations, etc and as you walk/fly around the globe would be filled it. See Also Satellites & Drones below.
• Solar System Map - A map of the solar system you are in. Would be nice to bring up map of the solar system and plan your flight path. Basic info just the sun and planets. If you have visited the planet it could tell you so and identity the name and its resources just as you would see when in space after a planetary scan.
• Landing & Tagging - Please change the Land and Tag feature to seperate buttons or something. Too many times I have launched from the planet and not thinking been too close to the ground, tag a building far off and as soon as the tagging feature finishes my ship lands. Too many times this has been when I am low of fuel and now don't have enough to take off again.
• Resource Teleportation to Ship - Please increase the range of the teleport resources to ship. I installed this and it only seems to work for maybe a few hundred yards before I am out of range I could understand if there was a line of sight requirement.
• Satellites and/or Drones. Would be nice to build a satellite or drone that can be used to map the planet, located structures, surface resources, etc.
  • As far as drones maybe the ability to take over/reprogram a sentinel or capture a sentinel and read it scanning logs
  • Satellites could maybe also tie into the resource teleporter to ships
• Mission log please list the full description required to finish the mission. Example had a mission to find some resource. The mission log just says something along the lines of collect resources for client. I then have to select the mission and close out the menu for a message to show up in the bottom right corner to get the full details of the mission.
• Base Computer. Everytime my base computer completes its archive search and I return to see what new construction piece it has found I have to select that mission otherwise I only get the option to Rename, Upload, etc for my base. So as usual I walk up to it select it see those options, back out, go into the menu, log, select the base computer mission, close that all out, reclick on the base computer and then read through the archive into.
  • Would also be nice if there was some way to relocate a base. Maybe some resource input to pack it all up, and/or redeploy it. Or the ability to build a new base computer, insert some required # of resources and your uploaded base gets spit back out. Resource quantity might depend on size of base.
  • Ability to have more than one base but maybe only 1 per solar system
• Terminal text. Please mix up the text a terminals spit out.
  • The abandoned building has the exact same text every time. Mix it up a little please give different reasons the building was abandoned maybe not always have those alien eggs out there
  • Security terminal where you pick the right # sequence. Mix that up a little as well there are basically two options I have seen the rolling # where the first digit become the last digit and the multiplication 1x2x6x24x120 etc. Make me have to think a little not just enter 720 and be done with it. Maybe add some other puzzle formats not just math. Like reorganize a grid to reroute power, open the terminal housing to reconnect a broken display wire, etc.
• Multi-tool - Ability to buy more than one as well as sell your old one. I have been given a multi tool by at least one NPC that was almost just as good as mine so I turned it down but would be nice to have the option to own two or more and sell them as I desire. Would be nice to maybe be able to carry two as the same time. One geared towards mining and one geared towards offense/defense. Maybe you are only allowed to have 1 rifle and one pistol vs two pistols or two rifles.

There are all I can think of while I sit here wasting time at work. I will admit I have only been playing since it was introduced on the Xbox so a few weeks at most. Great game and I appreciate how much of a pain in the ass it is to do certain things (mine tons of resources, fly to another planet without pulse engines trying to outrun a pirate) and all I seek are options that seem like logical additions.

HD60S only recording in 720

So about 80% of the time when I hook my HD60S up through my Xbox, it only records in 720p 30FPS. I don’t have an Xbox One X, so I can’t record 60FPS anyways, but I always have it set to 1080p. Two games recorded in 1080p, and the other eight recorded in 720, none of my settings were changed. What’s going on?

So I finally got my Trade Cutter, and I don’t know what to do now.

Has anyone else experienced this? You finally get the ship you have always wanted and it just isn’t enough? Don’t get my wrong it feels good to drop off 720 tons of goods, but what is the next goal now?

Is it weird that I find more enjoyment in using my Type 6 with 35 Ly jump range to do data delivery missions and make scraps?

6% away from Elite in Trade, once I reach that maybe I’ll just make posts on the LFG on Xbox and see if anyone wants to wait in a station as I drop off goods so they can make some money. Maybe I’ll just help newer players.

Lately, I've seen a large amount of potato quality videos and screenshots usually taken on a cell phone. When I look into the comments of these posts, typically the OP has no idea how to upload content for the best possible quality and a phone may be easier for them to do so. We may be missing some key points from your video or screenshot because we simply can't see them due to quality. Some kind Redditors explain to them how to do so and I just thought there should be a post on how to do so! After all, we want the best possible quality content for this sub! The sidebar tells you how to upload game clips to certain websites, but I feel that additional information would be helpful. There are many ways to upload content to Reddit, but lets start with the basics.

The Xbox one has a built in DVR that records game clips and screenshots

Important addition by /u/ExpansiveGold: "I'd like to add that many of these options only work if your privacy settings are set so that anyone can view your clips. Otherwise, Streamable and Xbox DVR can't access your clips." To do this:

1.Select Settings from the Xbox Home screen.

2.Select Privacy & family safety.

3.Select Customize.

4.Select Share game clips.

5.Choose to Allow

To take a screen shot in game, simply press the home button followed by the "Y" button. You will get a message saying screen shot saved.

To take a video in game, press the home button followed by the "X" button. You will get a message saying Video clip recorded. Videos are defaulted to 30 seconds in length.

/u/StepDadoDragons suggestion: "To take clips of different lengths, hit the Xbox button, then hit select and scroll through the time options. At 1080p(you can change this in settings) you can take a clip that is 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes." 720 videos can upload up to 5 minutes, but just remember, you only have limited space for uploading and eventually, you will have to free some room up.

Upload Studio App

Upload studio is a free app you can download from the Xbox store onto your Xbox. Here, you can trim your video to highlight the important part and can save your new clip.

Another popular option. Both work essentially the same. Punch in your username, click on clips and all of your game clips will appear. Simply copy and paste the URL to Reddit. Keep in mind some mobile users may have trouble viewing your video as Xbox DVR struggles with playback sometimes.

Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #51: Aquarium

First off, I'll say that I really liked how the island was shaped. There was some good terraforming, using multiple nature blocks to get across and shape and feel to the island. Also, really liked the cliff area and the fact that coarse dirt was used underneath those other dirt blocks. As for the island itself, not much else I can say other than it was really well built. I liked the crashed airplane and thought the use of prismarine there was a weird but cool choice. I liked the huts from a distance but up close I found that they looked a little too uninhabited for some reason. It may just be since they were practically all exactly the same, they just seemed artificial. However, this is probably just me.

Another cool build!

This one here, the island was a bit larger but I feel you guys did a good job terraforming it and making it still seem unique. Some other build, the islands felt too repetitive, with the same pattern of trees and nothing different. Your build here had enough diversity to make it still interesting. Also really liked the tree house. I always find they are very easy to mess up if people make them too big. Because then, it looks unrealistic and the tree is overshadowed immensely by the house part. My only small complaint was that the shipwreck underwater looked just too much like a weird cylinder underwater. Above water, it looked really cool! Below, it just was too big I found.

A very simple and small build, but that checks off each box and is well done. Really liked the custom trees and found it was a neat use of the stripped planks to create these palm trees. However, they did seem a little too small compared to the houses. Speaking of the house, really liked it! It was small and simple but had a lot of detail on it. For your island, I liked what you were doing but some parts seem too jagged. The cliff, while if you had one side that was just a cliffside, I don't think on an island as small as yours that it would be a really big mound of earth. It would probably be a more gradual incline leading from the island itself. Also, the archway felt a little out of place as well for the same reason. I couldn't imagine an archway just forming out of the blue with nothing else around it. Besides that, really liked your cave/treasure cove and thought it was a great build!

Introduction

Now it's time to incorporate some of that update aquatic stuff into our normal builds! This time, we'll be building aquariums to store fish in them, because it's possible to capture them with buckets!

Let's make the best and most beautiful aquariums there is!

Also note that after this challenge, we'll be moving away from water based challenges. I just wanted to do another one since the update is still fairly new!

New Textures

People have been asking about the new textures. As of now, the textures are only in the testing phase and will possibly change in the future. We have decided that we'll wait from allowing them in the build challenge as of now until there's a more official release of them. This may change next challenge as we, the judges, haven't had a full discussion on the matter but as of now, this is the ruling. Happy building!

2. Vanilla only No mods that add new blocks or items are allowed. No resource packs are allowed. Any minecraft version is allowed and you may build with custom terrain, creative mode, world edit or etc as long as it doesn't add any new blocks to the game. Shader pictures are not judged but can be added at the end of the album as bonus pictures None of those pictures will be accounted for when we judge the entries. Only vanilla screenshots.

3. Any version of minecraft i.e. PS3, Xbox 360, Pocket Edition.

4. No preexisting builds We're going with the honour system here but if anything had already been built before the start of the contest, don't submit it.

5. Build teams are allowed There may be more that one person building for a challenge but only one person may submit their entry with their account

Pc resolution issues

I just recently switched to PC from Xbox and I’m trying to figure out my resolution. When I set it to 1080 or even 720, my frames are locked at 30 and the game just looks awful. Anyone else on PC having issues like I am? My computer has much higher specs than what are recommended but the game looks horrible and the frames are crap
