I stream Xbox One with OBS and my Elgato is set for 1080p but my canvas and base canvas for OBS is for 720p, should I lower my Elgato settings and will this lower my CPU usage?

Right now my CPU usage sometimes goes a little too high so I was thinking does this make a difference, also will this make a difference in stream quality?
