Bought a laptop, not performing how I want... Need advise (small business owner, gamer) Want 2 in 1 but may go gaming... [URGENT 1 DAY TO RETURN CURRENT LAPTOP]

Hey all,

First want to apoligize in advance, I have tendonitis or carpal tunnel so typing is hard and cant find my bamboo pen.

I am a gamer (Xb1 primarily for 4k FPS, qaddventure, etc;, Wow mo per expansion, Overwatch religiously, Civ 6, and want to try new releases and maybe VR at some point). Most games are played on Xbox One.

I also am opening a reastaurant and the idea of a 2 in 1 intrigued me and I love the pen and tablet accasssibility for carrying around while doing inventory, etc is really useful.

So, I bought a Lenovo 720 80X7 I7-7700HP 2.8G 16GB RAM 512 SSSD 15.6' UHD 4K HDR GTX 1050M

So I love the laptop. The pen is nice, everything is greeat minus inputs. But, then I go to play Overwatch. Runs fine on High 60 fps UNTIL a little (15-20) into gaming session. Then all goes to hell. I am playing at Full HD not 4k, and have the 1050 only being used not the alsso integrated card. Im wondering if this is an overheating issue after reserach and if theare is something I can do to fix it?

At the same time, I spent 1350 on this thing. I could also drop an extra 200 bucks and get an alienware with a 1070 from Best Buy, which may be bulkier, but is future proof and I wont have to update my desktop on EVERYTHING (I havee a 4660k, gtx660, 8gb ram, etc so it needs a major overhaul).

So thats background... Hopefully they let me return this or sell it.

  • Total budget and country of purchase: 2200- USA (would prefer to spend 1200-1800). But if there is a PERFECT 2 in1 with a 1070 or w/ee id spend omomo.

  • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. 2 in 1 preference, mobile, performance

  • How important is weight and thinness to you? a little important, might buy said Alienware A15 and try size and if hate it I can return it ( prob will anyway)

  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15-17

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Addobe Photoshop, Overwatch, WoW, Civ 6, Woulddnt mindd ddabbling into VR but not 100% important obvioussly

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Overwatch 60 fps ultra or high, if theeres a 2 in 1 that can do 4k then fuck yes. Id also like to VR but will sacrifice for 2 in 1. I really want a 2 in 11 with a 1060or 1070 but may go gaming if not posssible.

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? SSSG REPUIREDD, BUILT IN G CARDD ABOVE 1060.

I like windows ink from my curerent laptop buy for a good gaming may be able to live without, touchscreen is nice ein case I need to use as POS but yet again, not necesssary.

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. So basically Id love a 2 in 1 windows ink with better graphics card (1060 or above) I love my Yoga 720 but am unsure if my 1050 can play OW on ultra/high or if its heat is the bottleneck.

If no 2 in 1 can be found for under 2k with a 1060 or 1070 (id boost to 2200 for 1070) then Id consider a gaming laptop. Also if anyone has opinions on 4k vs 144 hz on laptop screens andd if its worth let me know. I hook OW to a larger monitor currently anyway. Also, could I maybe keep thee 720 and get an external Graphics Card swhile at home? I know it has a lightnightning port (currently used to add HDMI and USB for my Blackwiddow and Logitech g500)

Any 2018 models have a better graphics comparability for 2 in 1? Also, I have "Perks at Work" so some samsung, ddell Alienware, and Lenovo I get 7-40% off.
