So I'm primarily a PC player, a week or 2 ago my GPU died and as you know the current prices of GPUs are so inflated due to the miners so I decided to wait until the new GPUs arrive to purchase. In the meantime I realized my uncle had a PS3 slim with a couple games collecting dust so I decided to take it off him.
I've never owned any consoles in my life because my parents didn't want to get any nor could they afford it, so I missed the golden PS3/Xbox360 era which is sad so I'm kinda excited. Anyway enough rambling.
My PS3 is connected to my 24inch 1080p 144hz monitor via HDMI Currently I have a couple problems: 1) it seems like games are laggy and the image quality is bad, idk why but when I compared the same game to someone else's YouTube gameplay their one looks a lot better than mine. After researching it seems like there's. A scaling issues and my monitor can't scale it well? also I noticed that afrer a 9 hour long full format of my system that games run a bit better but maybe that's a placebo
2)continuing from 1 , even after a clean format the system is loud and the HDD makes noises like traintracks, my uncle bought the PS3 well over 5 years ago so I wouldn't be surprised if the HDD is worn out or something. As I mentioned earlier the frame rate drops a lot so maybe my PS3 is throttling , a thorough cleaning of the fans and repasting of the CPU and GPU could alleviate that possibly?
Lastly when I say FPS issues I'm not comparing it to unrealistic 60fps like pc , I'm not stupid most PS3 games run at 30 and are rendered in 720p, my problem is that the games are not running like they should as seen on various YouTube videos. I'm gonna try and plug my PS3 into my old 32inch 720p TV to see if it solves the scaling issue.
Sorry for the long read
