So who is doing a better job at UI Management, Microsoft with it's 3 year UI Refresh cycles or Sony with it's Day One UI with monthly new features?

Microsoft Xbox One

Metro 2013-2015

Microsoft Xbox One Launch UI (Metro UI) was focused on Kinect Integration It was pile of pins and applications in square design over several swipes of information. Quite honestly, it’s not very good but featured snap.

The Problem was it was very slow,

NXOE 2015-2017

Microsoft NXOE was an improvement over the Metro UI. Focused on Speed and being faster then Metro. The UI showed a lot more of content on the screen with Guide but removed snap.

Fluent Design 2017-???

It's like a Mixture of Metro and NXOE (There i said it)

Microsoft Fluent Design is focusing on speed of navigation and removing the splash screens that occur when you switch from sections like home, social, and my games / apps.

The tabs in the guide are now ordered horizontally, and you can switch between them using the Xbox controller bumpers or left thumbstick and d-pad. Sign-in, achievements, parties / LFG, friends, Home, messages, broadcasts, and a new action center (with settings) now form part of the updated guide. It works very similar to how it has in the past, but it’s much quicker to switch sections with the controller now. When you navigate to sections of the guide, there’s even a new stacked user interface to show you what you’ve left behind.

SONY PS4

Orbis OS 2013-2017

I don't know what to say about it at first look it's like what Metro UI Should have been. Everything so organized, Fast and Snappy. Supports Live themes

The only problem is the UI becomes slow when you use Live themes but then again it's up to you if you want beauty over performance.

So who do you think is doing a great job Microsoft or Sony?
