For the past 3 weeks I've been disconnecting from Xbox live randomly when I play online and I would automatically reconnect as well. I use wireless to connect to my modem/router. One day there was a snowstorm that started and lasted for 2 days which affected my connection during that time. Then after the storm ended, I've been disconnecting from Xbox live and it would be RANDOM, it could happen in 10 minutes to an hour. It affects my Xbox one and my smart TV both connected using wireless. At first I thought the power went out during the night of the storm when everyone was asleep and that it screwed the modem/router so I got a replacement, the problem still exists. Then I notice the Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port of the modem/router and to a box in the basement was damaged (or at least it looked like it was) so I replaced that and it didn't fix anything. I already contacted Verizon and Xbox technical support, searched the web, and they didn't help. They suggested me to get a network extender but I didn't need that before, I have 11 devices connected to the router/modem, yes I know that's a lot but it's been like that for a year and I never got disconnected before. The router/modem is located in a lower floor while my Xbox is upstairs, they are NOT far apart, it's just my router/modem is downstairs and my Xbox one is upstairs. Also, when ever I watch YouTube on my smart TV, the video quality would jump up and down from 720p to 240p and then it would BUG out, the video would flash pink for a split second, buffers a lot, the video would stutter bad as if it was fast forwarding and rewinding and sound would cut out. My modem/router is from Verizon, the Fios Quantum Gateway. https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-quantum-gateway/
there are 2 wifis to connect to on my router/modem. the Xbox One and Smart TV are connected to the regular wifi not the 5G because the 5g was 2 bars while the regular was 3 bars. it's not the Xbox One causing it because I've already done steps that Xbox support asked me to do like clear mac address, delete my account and re-download, hard shutdown the Xbox and unplug everything connected to it, and even factory reset the console. None of those steps helped. It doesn't affect smartphones or the computer which is connected with an Ethernet cable. I have moved the Xbox One extremely close to the router/modem and experimented. I connected an Ethernet cable to the Xbox One and played online for a couple of hours and did not get disconnected. in the same spot real close to the modem I disconnected the Ethernet cable from the Xbox One and switch to wireless, the signal was 4 bars but I disconnected from Xbox Live soon after. Yes I already unplugged my modem/router and pressed the red reset button on the back, and I've held the WPS button for 5 seconds. NONE OF THESE HELPED. Reddit is my last hope. please enlighten me with suggestions because I just don't know what could be the source of this random Xbox live disconnect problem.
