An argument for a more powerful PC

As with most of you, my original intent for making an arcade cabinet was to play all the retro emulated stuff for nostalgia; a reminder of my childhood.

That stuff is great, but at least for me, the nostalgia has worn off after playing a few days and I'm glad that I decided to splurge on a decent i5 (i.e. ~$400-500) and upgrade its graphics card with a gtx 1050, and I'm glad I swapped the 720p 32" monitor for a 1080p one. Because with that the arcade machine is still extremely useful as a second computer when my kids are occupying my main computer, and I can use it for more modern Steam games, like Street Fighter V, Marvel vs Capcom 3 Ultimate, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, Blazblue, and the latest King of Fighters with the Joysticks of the cabinet. I have an xbox controller/wifi dongle so I can play Valkyria chronicles, Lego worlds, or whatever I fancy.

Also, getting furniture moving pads is so essential because now the machine can be moved against the wall, or away from the wall when I want to watch TV as well!
