I always hear people on YouTube, on forums, on social media say how beautiful the original Xbox looks in 480p so I finally did it only to be very dissapointed. Tried multiple Xbox on multiple HDTV's same outcome.
Just wondering if I'm the only one who isn't impressed at all with "HD" mode for original Xbox games? Yes, the settings on the Xbox are correct to the mode support of the HDTV.
HD mode, especially 480p, IMHO looks absolutely horrible with jaggies everywhere, straight lines such as wires or power lines are broken instead of being solid, etc.
IMHO a Xbox games look much better on standard definition CRT's because the ever so slight natural blur of a CRT sort of acts like anti-aliasing and fixes the jaggies and power lines, wires etc look as they should.
So I'm just wondering what's with the hype and admiration some seem to have for HD gaming on the original Xbox? Please share your opinions.
Edit: I live in the USA so everything is NTSC.
Edit 2: The Xbox is not modded (yet). It's a 1.0 Xbox. I use an S-Video cable for it as thats the best the Sony Trinitron CRT TV I currently use supports.
Edit 3: I'm 36 and grew up in the CRT era so I'm a bit bias toward them however I'm perfectly aware of upscaling anything from 480i/480p will look terrible in native HDTV resolution. I'm just wondering why all those YouTubers, forum posters and social media posts claim it looks amazing when clearly it doesn't. 720p/1080i games of course do but 480p... no way.
