Roku Premiere+ YouTube app only 720P

The YouTube app appears to only be in 720p scaled 1.5 times to 1080p. This makes everything look terrible compared to a native 1080p app (like on Xbox One). When you view the "Stats for Nerds" on the youtube app on Roku you can see the content you are playing is 1080p or 4k @ 24/30/60, but the dimensions of the player are 1280x720*1.5. Now, I'm wondering if the Roku YouTube is capable of playing 1080p content without scaling? I have a feeling it's scaling everything to 720p then scaling back to 1080p. Unless the dimensions displayed are just for the UI elements and that the actual 1080p content is being untouched, but I feel this is incredibly unlikely as it looks like the app itself is running in a scaled 1080p mode. If the content is being scaled down I will definitely be returning my Roku and continue using my Xbox One for streaming content as it doesn't butcher the image quality. I worry Netflix and other apps are doing this same thing, however I have no way to tell other than visually (no stats like youtube). But compared to the Netflix App on my Xbox One the menus look quite bad. You can tell it's been blown up an is not 1-to-1 scaled in the menus on the Roku.

Anyone know for sure if when the app says the dimensions are 1280x720*1.5 if the content that is being played is being scaled as well? It sure looks like the 1080p or 4k video (which it shows it is playing at those resolutions) is the same as if it was in 720p. Which leads me to believe it IS scaling everything to 720P then back to 1080p.
