Will I see performance gain? (TV)

Looking to upgrade from a Panasonic 37' 720p television to a 55' 1080p Vizio unit.

I sit about 8 feet (from bed) from my tv currently. I have an original Xbox one and won't upgrade to 4K until Scorpio.
