Hi! I'm new to reddit so sorry if this doesn't post in the right place. I've been browsing here and searching the web and the solutions I'm seeing are mixed (internet speed, port forwarding, etc). Maybe you can help me narrow it down. I use the Twitch App on Xbox One to get gameplay footage onto my PC so I can edit it.
I tried the Battlefield 1 beta, starting a new broadcast around every 30 minutes. The first few broadcasts, I saw the lag error 2-3 times briefly. The last broadcast, the error came up constantly and stayed for really long stretches, nearly the entire time. The game itself never lagged, btw.
When I reviewed the video files, for the first broadcasts, each instance of actual lag only lasted about a second, so I was able to cut out the junk frames/missing audio to make it clean. But the last broadcast had so much lag for such long stretches that huge chunks of gameplay were completely unusable and had to be cut out entirely.
I REALLY don't want that to happen again. I use the app a lot in this way for all of my games and this is the first time I've ever seen a broadcast lag THAT badly so I don't know if it was because of BF1, Twitch, or my connection. Shmelp!
INFO:
No kinect. Just game capture. (720p)
Recommended bitrate (2500kbps)
WiFi (Cisco router)
25/5 Internet
Only one other device is connected to my internet (PC) and that wasn't in use. For various reasons, a wired connection isn't possible for my console in this space. Any thoughts on why the last broadcast went nuts? Could starting a new broadcast back to back have caused each one to be laggier than the first somehow? Should I just lower the bitrate and call it a day even though my connection is decent?
My other question is with the video quality. Don't know if I should make another post about it. The mp4 files that I downloaded from Twitch's archive of my streams look "soft". Is there anything I can do about that on my end or is it just the way Twitch encodes the file? Thanks!
