Fire Stick flickers with ViewHD HDMI splitter

I purchased this ViewHD HDMI splitter the other day to see if the original receiver I purchased was faulty. Basically, I got rid of my Onkyo receiver since I'm switching to Sonos and I needed an HDMI splitter that sent optical audio to my Sonos Playbar. I also have a projector, so my wiring options are somewhat limited.

All of my inputs work fine (DirecTV, XBOX, PC), but for some reason the Amazon Fire Stick flickers the entire time, making watching anything on it impossible.

I've read in other forums, that I should try changing the resolution of the Fire Stick to 720p to see if that fixes the issue, and it has. But why on earth would I want to downgrade my resolution, when all the components are supposed to support 1080p and up? This is now the second hdmi switcher I have, from two different vendors, that produce the same issue.

I did not have any issues with the Fire Stick in my Onkyo, nor do I have any issues with it plugged into my TV in my bedroom. I've switched out the other Fire Stick I have, and the same issue persists.

This leads me to believe it's something with either of the switchers that is the issue, but I either need some direction on WTF I'm doing wrong, or a switcher that will actually work, despite what the manufacturer claims.
