Advice on combining two donated PCs to make a rig

Build Help/Ready:

Hey folks, sort of a build going on. Sorry if this is bending the rules, I don't mean to piss anyone off. I mentioned in a group of friends the other day that I was hoping to start saving for a build. I was planning to use my saving time to read up on builds, which I have been, but my schedule got bumped up quite a bit. One of my friends gave me his unused Levoto D20 Thinkstation (specs below) and another gave me a computer that was frequently BSODing on him (again, details below). I've read up on thinkstations and understand that they are not very good for gaming, obviously, as they are not designed for gaming. I am also reading that there are some issues where not all components are compatible when trying to swap parts.

This is where I get lost, I don't understand enough about graphics card and MOBO compatability etc. What would I need to do to the D20 in order to make it run games smoothly? Can I swap in from the other computer or is it better to buy some new components? Is it even worth the trouble?? Any insight would be a huge help, thanks

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

For some gaming and occasionally even some CAD (solidsworks, sketchup etc for practice, nothing major)

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)

Run comfortably at 720, maybe even 1080, on medium settings. Not fussy, just want to get gaming again as it's been a long while since my Xbox died.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

As little as possible but maybe 100-150 could be spared in the next while
