Interpretation of rumors

(I don't work in the industry, this isn't a leak, and this is just a fun post based on interpreting other rumors.)

I think there will be two gaming devices (a home console - Wii U successor) and a portable device (a 3DS successor). I think both of these will be cartridge-based, both will have ARM processors, both will play the same cartridges and so on.

I'm assuming in March 2017, the home console one comes out. I'm assuming later in the year, the portable comes out. The portable will play the same games because it uses the same cartridges. The portable will run at 720p and the home console either at 1080p60fps or 4K.

I think the game developers attracted to the consoles will be: - a small subset of AAA developers (Nintendo themselves, Ubisoft, Square Enix, etc) [basically those that have historic relationships with Nintendo] - Android developers (i.e. indie developers)**

Nintendo has claimed numerous times to "not run Android" even though their are multiple rumors about this. I assume this is because Nintendo has forked Android and now calls it something similar to NintendOS (ala Amazon), which is "not Android" (anymore).

So they will have cross platform cartridges that downscale on portable, but still way above 3DS/Sony/etc. And they will have some form of an eshop to allow people to get NintendOS compliant Android apps (i.e. that meet the standards of Nintendo (game, kid friendly, etc)).

It will still have way more games than PS4/Xbox because of all the indie Android developers being brought in, and it will have the kid-friendly AAA titles. But AAA titles that are popular on PS4/Xbox could end up being ignored/not-a-fit.

Cartridges will likely be 32gb, but could be 64gb. Physical cartridge size will be plus or minus 50% comparable to 3DS cartridges.

Pikmin 4, a new mario game, Zelda, Layton will all ship within 6 months of March 2017.

Portable will use the Nvidia X1 chip.

Home console will cost 299, portable 199. Some people will want only one, not both. Portable will fit in a pocket because Nintendo's big market is Japanese players on subways, but will be heavy/bulky in the first release.

No VR for this. AR for portable.

Not very opinionated on this whole controller topic. Will abstain for now
