So there are the popular YouTubers......

So there are the popular YouTubers who always go on saying stuff like "I earn 100 subscribers a second" and they always dismiss it like it's nothing. But here's the thing - Yes, I understand that at that point, it's just numbers for them. As harsh as it may seem and even though they say stuff like "I love all of you. Every single one of you!", but we all know that that's not possible. They don't understand that people like their content, they subscribe and each and every one of them are a real person because at the point they're at, how could they imagine 10,000,000+ people all at once?

This is where it frustrates YouTubers like me. Because we are small channels and we have a hard time growing, we cherish every single subscriber we get. I still get excited every single time I see a little red dot by the notification sign with the number 1 in it. It may be one comment or one subscriber, but for people like me, this means everything.

I have been on YouTube for over five years spanning over three accounts. The account that I have now and will keep for good has 57 subscribers. However, I pour my heart and soul into YouTube and get little in return. I have over 150 videos, I've been on YouTube for 13 months and have gotten 18,000 views. Here's the problem - I see channels appearing fresh and new time to time that get the same amount of subscribers in a year in a bloody DAY. Now, these people upload 3 minute long vlogs and gaming videos in 720p 30fps with a bitrate lower than the amount of times my grandmother can do sit-ups in a minute. I upload in 1080p 60fps with a 30,000 kbps bitrate and SOMEHOW I get an average of 9-15 views per video. Now, I have had the odd video or two that has skyrocketed for a short amount of time, one being one of the very first showcases of Assassin's Creed II when it was available for Backwards Compatibility on XBOX ONE. That video now has 8,141 views. To me, that was the biggest achievement in all the time I have been on YouTube, but it's not the content to gain subscribers from.

Some of us YouTubers with low sub counts put more effort into their videos than (for example) PewDiePie. We buy the most expensive things we can afford to make our content better. We put hours, even DAYS of effort into a video or two. We take our blood, sweat and tears and sign our content with it hoping that we will be noticed. But alas, we do not. Most of us do it for fun, and I admit, I don't do it for the subscribers either. But we most certainly deserve more than what we have and get.

Thanks - Vivirin (Also my YouTube name)
