I got a Steam Link as a gift and it works fantastic for my couch gaming needs!
Now that I'm back on the couch, there's a couple of titles I've had for a while that I want to play on my HDTV like Psychonauts, Beyond good and Evil, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Times, ect.
Of course, these games were designed to be rendered on Xbox/PS2 (at 640x480ish) and the artists had to work within the confines of these limitations to make the game look as best they could.
This is a subjective topic, so I'm interested in hearing what you prefer because there really is no wrong answer. For example:
I think that a lower resolution almost feels like part of the overall puzzle and just fits in with low resolution textures, where as in a high resolution I can see each and every "flaw" with clarity.
How do you like to play 4:3 games on modern hardware?
-
1440x1080 with no scaling
-
720x540 with minimal 1:1 scaling and close to the original resolution
-
640x480 with scaling artifacts
Or something in between?
