Hi there,
I just got my new GTX 960 in my PC today, it's awesome, absolutely love it. All day today I've been taxing the card just to make sure it works how it should. I've been playing Just Cause 3, GTA V, Mad Max, Fallout 4, Valley Benchmark, everything works great at Ultra 720p just the way I want it. However, when I was playing Ryse: Son of Rome at Max 720p, mid-way through the first level (that "showcase" level, the most taxing one) my computer did a complete shut off and reset itself. As soon as it reset, I ran the game again, and no problems rose from it.
Why did it do that? I don't suspect any thermal shutoff or anything, since I could tax the card up to about 60-70Cel with no problems at all. No overclocks have been done to the card, yet. The only modification that's been done is the fan speed. Instead of having it on that auto speed where it'll only turn on when needed, I prefer it set to 30-40% speed, depending on temperature.
Specs if it helps: i5-2320
8GB DDR3-1333 RAM
EVGA GTX 960 2GB Single-Fan
Cooler Master/"Thermal Master" TC-102 500W PSU (I suspect this could be a reason, but once again I've been playing/running those intensive benchmarks all day)
1TB HDD
(Edit: I can't format today)
Peripherals (if it helps): Generic Dell Keyboard
Aula Killing Soul Mouse (cheap gaming mouse knockoff)
Xbox One wired controller
Thanks!
