Can anyone confirm whether changing Xbox One display settings to 720p improves BC game performance?

I read online doing this supposedly improves Gears of War 3's framerate. I'm currently doing it for Halo: Reach, and it seems like there's an improvement, but it's also possible my eyes are deceiving me.
