Hey guys of r/twitch. I have looked at all the topics but I can't really seem to decide what to do. I am a newer streamer and I just can't figure out what settings I should use. I understand what everything does for the most part, I just want some opinions on how you think I should run my stream. My main stream game is Halo 5 which runs on the xbox at 1080/60. My computer and connection can handle quite a bit and I currently run these settings:
Quality: 1080p60fps
Bitrate: 3500 CBR and CBR Padding Checked
x264 preset: Fast
My questions are:
-
As a non-partnered streamer, should I lower any of my settings, like should I run a lower bitrate and just do 720p60fps?
-
Should I change any audio settings?
-
Should I change the x264 preset?
My pc and internet can handle the Fast preset and 3500 bitrate without issue, but the age-old question is should I? As a non-partner I do not get transcoding so am I really alienating a viewerbase? I want to keep extremely good quality, but I am noticing that even bigger streamers run at 720p60fps because the bitrate needed for 1080p60fps is larger than the 3500 recommended. My pc is basically a dedicated stream machine for Halo, and I use an elgato hd60 to capture currently.
Just hoping to get more honest opinions from you guys. Thanks for your time!
