I'm just starting on my journey as a youtuber and getting everything sorted - I can't find consensus on the internet (or I can't make sense of it) but what file format should I be using? What free software should I be using?
I currently have OBS installed to record from my monitor (will that record gameplay well?) and am buying an elgato hd 60 to record from my xbox (also potentially from my PC?) - I'm guessing this might take care of the file type by using a default - but what should I be using? I have limited space on my SSD for now (it came with 2 small ones, 256 gb total) and my upload speed will be terrible, so I am not looking for mega quality. Honestly 720p will most likely be fine as I don't want a 20 minute video to take two days to upload.
Any help would be appreciated, but ELI5 it if you can!!
