Hi, I’ve been playing cs:go for a while now but only on my desktop. I’ve always played cs:go on 1080p with “medium settings” to keep a stable 300+ fps for my 144hz screen, and everything works great. But this weekend, I was going to the first LAN party I’ve attended for YEARS and I was so hyped. Although I decided to use my laptop as it’s so much easier and more convenient, and the LAN party was rather casual so I thought, why not.
My laptop is a MSI GE-70, 6gm RAM, i5 quad core and GTX 650m graphics card. I know this isn’t hardcore, but I’ve played trough many “new-ish” games like tomb raider, dead space 3, crysis 2, LoL, Dota2 and so on, and all the games worked on 1080p with low settings, maybe some even on medium, with no problems at all and as the screen is limited to 60fps I don’t really care if my fps is on 100 or 300.
Now to the point: the performance on cs:go is terrible? How can a big game like this have such issues with performance? When I used the “recommended” settings that geforce gave me, csgo didn’t exceed 30fps. I slimmed down all the options to disabled and all the tweaks to low, but still real shitty fps, at least when I were moving or something happens. I had to scale down the game to 720p with lowest available settings to keep the game at a stable 60+ fps, and I still experience stuttering’s and hiccups during the games which can be really crucial and it destroyed my “flow” so many times. I hate playing on 720p as it ruins the whole feeling of it being a new game, then I’d rather play 1.6 or source, than downscaling a new cs:go games to look like a pixelmess.
I use –high –novid and unparked all my cores, I use NO anti virus and the computer was wiped clean when windows 10 was released, also I deactivated the windows 10 xbox game thingy and disabled steam overlay.
My CPU works at around 70% when cs:go is putting up full load, while I’m not sure how the graphics card is doing.
Is this normal or is my computer broken?
