I have been a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note line of phones. Since I got the first Note, I stayed loyal to the Samsung brand as well. While on the Note 3, I decided to try a smaller phone and went with the Galaxy S6. This phone instantly confirmed to me that a larger phablet phone was what I wanted to have.
I really became a little upset with Samsung by the way they locked their phones down. I stopped rooting when Samsung made it so you had to trip the Knoxx counter just to root. Just based on this information, I wanted to look at something new and fresh.
I really wanted something I could get away from a lot of the bloatware crap. Rooting was something I wanted to get back to as well since I love apps like Titanium Backup. Finally, a stock like experience after dealing with Touchwiz was going to be a welcome change.
After looking around a bit, some people here said to try the Nexus 6. I was a little concerned about the age of the phone since it came out last year, but that was about it. According to everything I read, I could unlock the bootloader and root the phone easily. The stock rooted rom was easy to get. It just seemed like it was a great fit across the board.
I purchased the phone, and unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone within 30 minutes. I then loaded the latest 5.1.1 stock rooted rom. I loaded the latest Franco Kernel after I set the phone up and got all my apps loaded including most of the root apps I bought.
The Nexus 6 is an incredible phone. I am so glad that I moved over to this phablet device. So much better than a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or even a Galaxy S6. The large screen is awesome. The only thing that could be better is the camera, but I don't take pictures often with this thing anyway.
Thanks again for the help in this sub reddit everyone. I appreciate it. :)
