Ok so here is the deal. I've been thinking about getting a PS2 for a long time, but I recently found out how terrible the games look on the newer monitors. I am wondering what would give me the best experience for the least money(I don't want to buy a new monitor/TV and don't have space for an old CRT even if I could get one cheap).
My TV is 26 inch LCD @ 720p but thing is the replacement which is 32 inch @ 1080p is already here and is just waiting to be taken out of the box and I won't be keeping my old TV.
I also have a 1440x900 19 inch LCD monitor but that only has a VGA input and I heard it is quite expensive to get a PS2 to work with a VGA, even though the resolution and screen size might be suitable.
All my other monitors are 21 inch LCD @ 1080p so no dice either.
Another thing I could do is simply use an emulator, but however many times I have tried before, I don't get the best experience, you have to mess with settings, controls and other things, and getting a PS2 controller to work with PC is probably not the easiest thing as playing with the xbox 360 one I have currently is not that good.
Last thing I am considering is getting a PCI TV tuner. That is looking like the cheapest and best option for now, since I can make my PC do the upscaling instead of having to rely on the PS2 itself and it works just like any other PC software, meaning I can use my PC at the same time while playing. I am worried about input lag, though and also about the FPS I am going to get, since I heard TV tuners can impact those things. I actually even have an external TV tuner at home, that I might be able to try with a friend's console and see how it works.
So what do you think? Which of these options would be the best in my situation?
