Would Component cables work with an unmodded PAL Xbox? (480i etc, NOT progressive scan 480p 720p etc)

If I used a Component cable to connect an Original Xbox to a TV... would that even work? I know 480p+ is impossible without softmod but would it at least work in 480i? Or would it not work at all?
