Hello.
I've recently kicked Skyrim back up again on my Playstation 3, and I love the game. But as we all know: -720p resolution cap -30fps cap (nauseating if you're finally used to 60 on the newer consoles) -Bad performance overall <30fps in many locations -Hitch, freeze and very long loading screens -Forever to save and load character files
It's time to move on to PC, and I've had the PC version with all DLC for years for the purpose of modding to hell, but keeping console for normal un-modded play.
PC benefits (from my testing on old 2008 gaming pc): -Xbox360 native controller support (or Dualshock 3 with motioninjoy). *All fully tested with my Dualshock 3 and feels exactly like console, but even tighter and more responsive. -1080p and beyond -60fps and beyond -Smooth without hitches -Modding of course
Everything above is amazing and playing with the controller feels like I am literally playing the game as if it were released on the PS4 (something I truly want but will likely never happen).
My idea is to either purchase a machine or build a machine that is very small (similar to the same console footprint as an xbox or ps4) but obviously not too small as to not fit the proper components in. It will sit next to my ps3, ps4 and hook up to my TV via HDMI. I plan on getting a small wireless keyboard with touchpad built in for basic control functions, but 99% of the time the system will be playing skyrim via controller anyway.
Has anyone built a very small PC like I mentioned or purchased one already built?
I am looking for something this small that will exceed Skyrim's requirements so there are no issues, and it shouldn't be to difficult given my 7 year old PC can play Skyrim with mods and the Official HR texture pack at 60+ frames.
It may be a while before I can afford to build or purchase a machine like this, but I will take any suggestions here and note them down for future purchases.
And of course the only reason I am not really doing much of the research myself is because much like the age of my current gaming PC, I've been aging and out of the loop as well when it comes to latest PC hardware. I still obviously know how to build, maintain, upgrade install the OS etc but I could use a little push in the right direction for the latest GPU, CPU etc.
I appreciate any input!
