Baffled by poor quality of Samsung devices.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Gsmarena

Don't get me wrong, the Galaxy S6 I had before and the Note 4 I have now are both beautiful phones. I like the Samsung software more or less, I love the s-pen functionality, and overall I am very happy with the device.

The problem is that basic things like telephony, data connectivity, and GPS are spotty as hell. My Note 4 gets almost no connection in my home, but when I throw my sim in my Nexus 5 it works great. The Note 4 is constantly losing data connection and has to be rebooted or finagled to get it to reconnect. I'm constantly missing callings, messages, and having trouble downloading MMS. GPS works about as well as you would expect if your phone didn't have a GPS, which is to say not at all.

The S6 Edge was the same story. Not more than 1 bar of service for the two weeks I had it, nowhere in my entire city.

I have tested all four major networks and three different devices, and it's definitely the devices. I hear many people say the same things, but a lot of people don't seem bothered as much maybe because they don't rely on GPS and data connectivity.

So what's the deal? It's as if Samsung can build a great looking device but can't build anything with decent connectivity. Yet they are the biggest Android manufacturer out there and people seem to love them. The reputation they have does not at all match my experience, but it has been consistently poor across all Samsung devices I have used. The chances of getting so many lemons in a row seems improbable it must be a more widespread problem, yet I don't see a lot of pitchforks.

I'm so confused.
