So I'm Finally Jumping on the PC Gaming Train and I've Hit a Crossroads

I wouldn't say I'm ascending, per say, as I still love my PS3 and I plan on keeping my Xbox One for years to come but I finally think it's time to get a proper gaming PC. I'm still torn on a lot of things (especially building from scratch vs a pre-built machine), but the biggest area I'm finding myself torn on is actually the monitor.

I know a lot of people make the jump to PC gaming for the sake of games looking as beautiful as possible but monitors aren't always cheap, especially when the budget is a bit tight.

My desk isn't huge so I'm giving serious thought to using a 19" TV I've had in my bedroom for the last two years. The TV is only 720p but I think it would make a nice monitor for a PC.

This then makes me question my whole build I would even put together (or pre-built that I would buy). Do I go for a budget machine that can max things at a higher resolution (future proofing for if I get a better monitor down the road) or do I build something that would be more focused on just maxing newer games at 720p.

Also, are there any good ways to buy or build a PC on a budget that are also capable of streaming gameplay, or is that something I'd need to hold off for a more "money is no object" build in a few years?

TLDR: Console gaming n00b is sick of playing games on his macbook and has no idea what he's doing.

Lag and chop quality with Elgato for Twitch on laptop

Hey everyone I just got into Twitch recently and bought an Elgato Capture card to stream my gameplay. I'm brand spanking new at all this stuff so please bare with me on my situation.

What I'm working with: -Samsung ATIV Book 8 (laptop) -CPU: Intel i7 3635QM (quadcore) 2.4 GHz, 3.4Ghz (max) -GPU: Radeon HD 8770M (halfway decent from what I hear) -RAM: 8GB -Memory: 1TB Internal -OS: Windows 10 -300ish GB of free internal memory

-Elgato Capture Card HD

Internet Speed: 24 mbps dwnld / 1.4 mbps upld

I'm trying to optimize my stream quality when broadcasting onto Twitch using the Elgato game capture software. When I set everything up my broadcast is coming out terribly choppy and pixelated. I tried messing with the bit rate in the settings and went from a 1080p profile to a 720p. I did the same thing in my Xbox 360 settings, switched to 720p from 1080p to enable more FPS( it says input and output are now 59.4FPS after I messed with that setting but it still looks shitty). I understand that I should probably have a desktop PC but that isnt an option right now since im on a budget. I'm now using a wired internet connection for this which helped a bit but not too much. I have tried disabling preview, disabling stream command and flashback recording which helps but i would like to use those features at some point. Mainly stream command so I can have a camera feed on my gameplay. i've tried watching youtube videos but they all are having me adjust the bit rate and profile settings. I dont want to stream anything under 720p because i feel that the computer has more than enough power to do so.

How to lower CPU and keep frames from dropping?

Hello. I'm currently having a problem with my fps and CPU usage. When I begin to stream my CPU instantly kicks up to the max and my fps massively drops. If you'd like, I have a video of the previous broadcast on my channel if you want to watch.

I have 2000k as my bitrate and 720p30fps. I also downscale my xbox one quality from 1080p to 720p. I'm not sure what else to do and would really like some help on this. I'm guessing it's because of my specs most likely. I will go ahead and post all spec information in a bit.

Need help with HD tv on xbox one

Just bought a Samsung tv 1080p un32j5205. So far I'm not impressed with picture quality, I had a Vizio 720 tv. When I'm gaming the objects that are far away look pixelated or blurred. For example when I play overwatch, at end of the game when it shows the winning team grouped together their faces are blurry. Everything else is fine, just the far away images.

Is there anything I need to do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

New to PCMR, sold my consoles to get my body (and wallet) ready for VR. Now looking for deals to buy my recent (uncompleted) Xbox games again on pc. Recommendations?

first of all I'm proud to become a new part of your breathtaking community. Since the announcement and a demo of the HTV Vive last year on a press event, I saved every single cent and now even sold my consoles, to get ready for VR (hardware and moneywise).

Sadly I didn't complete some of my recent games on the Xbox One and now want to catch them up on my (more or less) glorious gaming machine. Are there any deals out there for the following titles to jump from 720/30 to glorious 1080/60+?

What Specs Can Reliably Stream 720p60 or 1080p30?

Hey guys!

So I was planning on upgrading my 256GB i5 Surface Pro 3, which I do game recording and video editing/production on, but isn't powerful enough to stream or record flawlessly (max working stream res. I get is 540p). I was going to upgrade to the Surface Pro 4, as it should handle it better, but realized the only thing I'd be upgrading for is that capability (faster rendering times too). But I didn't think it was worth the $1300 investment again just to upgrade (I don't expect to make much $ back from selling the SP3).

So I'd like to keep using my SP3, but find a new solution that would allow me to simply stream games (not play games directly on the system, but just stream from an AverMedia ExtremeCap U3 capture device), 720p60 or 1080p30 to Twitch or YouTube Live (through Xsplit)

My setup will consist of the capture device for external game recording and 1-2 live cameras (for PiP), plus a separate mic (through a USB audio interface). Total of 4 inputs there, besides the keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor. Also stream overlays graphics. Maybe this will affect processor load?

I'd prefer a more portable solution, such as a laptop, but am open to a desktop computer solution as well, mostly just for this purpose.

Gaming on it would be good too, but is not the priority, since most streaming will be from Wii U/Xbox One.

My budget would preferably be under $500 for the new PC, but I'd like to see what's possible.

Can anyone suggest anything? Any min. system specs you've found to work well in a similar setup for 720p60 or 1080p30 streaming (with the PC solely for streaming, not playing)?
