I want to still be able to play Xbox games on my TV in 4K with HDR while only streaming in 1080p. The 4K Elgato does not pass HDR anyway, so I'm using the HD60 Pro for capture to streaming.
However, this means that I would also have to play at 1080p on the TV to only use the Elgato, since it also does not pass-through 4K HDR. I got a third party 4k HDR splitter that downscales one output to 1080p, but the colors look a little washed out and I noticed a lot of sub-par quality in the capture, so I wanted to compare it to the quality of just streaming to the Xbox App on Windows 10 and capturing from there in OBS.

Some notes:
- This 4K splitter has issues when you switch sources away from it. For example, when I switch to watching my Apple TV and try to come back to Xbox it wants to output to my TV in 720 and give me stereo sound. Noticed this complaint in the Amazon reviews as well. You get what you pay for, and this is pretty cheap compared to the other HDR splitters out there.
- To my eye, the downscaling is not great. The colors are a little washed out and the text looks very rough and jagged. Xbox app streaming looks much smoother around the edges and true to form, but also doesn't seem to have as much clarity.
- In my capture, the Xbox App streaming was just set to "very high" quality, but I've seen some articles online about being able to tweak it above that to get better quality. I have not tried that method.

P.S. The double audio issue was not a product of the capture, it was just me forgetting to mute it in OBS. I fixed it about halfway through. You might also notice the very slight cutoff at the bottom of the Xbox app capture, and that was also a manual mistake on my part and is easily corrected in the actual OBS setup.
