Just Cause 3 - Resolution / FPS?

Okay..

I'm no resolution whore, and so far I absolutely love the game..

But I was wondering.

The game runs at 900p on the Xbox One, and is then upscaled to 1080p, but what if I lower the resolution to 720p, will the game then run at 720p or does the xbox still render it at 900p and then downscale it to 720p?

I don't mind 720p if that would give me a higher Frame per second..

But I'm not sure if lowering the resolution also renders at the low resolution, or if it just gets downscaled.
